Bringing together a bandoneón, two double basses, and two celli is an exploration of the depth and physicality of sound.
This unusual ensemble moves mainly within the lower registers, where the sound is not only heard but physically felt — within the body and in the space. Instead of seeking the traditional bright spectrum, the music remains in darker shades, where each tone carries weight, warmth, and resonance.

The bandoneón, with its breath and vibrating expressiveness, brings a sense of intimacy and humanity.
It intertwines with the power and collective resonance of the strings, forming a sound that is both raw and lyrical.
The two double basses provide a foundation that is monumental yet flexible — like pliant earth.
The celli act as bridges between the deeply grounded and the more melodic, and together the instruments create a sonic world that moves between gravity and lightness, between pulse and stillness.

The idea is to find a new sonic body by challenging the habit of seeking balance across all registers.
By consciously remaining in the darkness — in the lower ranges — another kind of listening is opened.
Here, overtones, resonance, and subtle variations become central.
It is not about reproducing the orchestral spectrum in miniature, but about allowing this unusual group of instruments to become its own organic instrument — a body of sound that can be powerful, vulnerable, and surprising.
